Stand with Wayside Chapel and 'Donate a Plate' to feed a person living on our streets this Christmas.

For the 35,011 people experiencing homelessness in NSW, Christmas is a lonely and difficult time of the year.

We urgently need to raise $1,100,000 by 25 December to make sure the vulnerable members of our community are fed and supported this Christmas.

Please 'Donate a Plate' now to sponsor a Christmas meal with all the trimmings, and ensure that people doing it tough during the holiday season receive the love, care and support they deserve.

Because no one should go hungry or be alone at Christmas.

Together, we can show people living on and around our streets that they are loved, and not forgotten.

All funds raised will go towards meals and support services delivered over the festive season, including Wayside's Christmas Street Party that we're hosting for our visitors on Christmas day!'

The Problem

Right now, there are 35,011 people experiencing homelessness in NSW alone.

For many people, the Christmas season is filled with joy, family and good cheer. But for people living on and around our streets... it is the loneliest time of the year.

In fact, 1 in 4 Australians can experience problematic levels of loneliness this Christmas.

Wayside Chapel has seen the demand for food at our kitchens almost double compared to last year, and as we prepare to welcome even more visitors than ever, we need your help...

Together, we can spread the Christmas cheer and bring joy to the most vulnerable people in our community.

The Solution

We’re asking YOU to 'Donate a Plate' to feed and support a person experiencing homelessness and social isolation this festive season.

Every dollar raised will go towards the cost of keeping our kitchens, programs and support services open throughout the holiday season, so everyone can receive the care, love and support they deserve.

This will be my 39th Christmas at Wayside Chapel. On Christmas Day I always have a cry, because I miss my son who lives overseas, but otherwise I revive. Wayside is my world.

In the weeks leading up to Christmas, we bring out the decorations and start to celebrate the end of the year. We know that it can be a tricky time for a lot of our visitors who might not have people in their lives.

Wayside Christmas holds a very special place in my heart and it’s a day that I look forward to every year.

However, it’s a very lonely time of the year for many people. If I can give at least one person a hug, make them laugh or dance up Hughes Street in the conga line, then I feel like I have hopefully provided connection and family to someone needing it.
