ANNUAL GIVING DAY!
Thanks to a generous group of anonymous donors, today on Giving Day, all online donations will be matched up to $250,000, making it our biggest fundraising day of the year!
Wayside visitors often go days without a safe, clean place to wash. In the last year, our showers are used more than 12,000 times. This basic necessity is key to providing warmth and dignity to our community.
Our goal is to raise $481,000 to fund our community showers for the next 12 months, ensuring people experiencing homelessness have access to the dignity they deserve.
This is the biggest fundraising day of the year because of you!

The Problem
Right now, there are 35,011 people experiencing homelessness in NSW alone.
Winter is one of the toughest times of the year for our community, and for people sleeping rough the colder months are brutal.
With the cost-of-living and rental prices skyrocketing, more people than ever before are turning to us for help.
From April to May this year, we saw a 14% increase in visitors using our showers.
We are determined to warm the hearts of people who need us most by providing a hot shower, toiletries, warm clothes plus ongoing love and support for sleeping rough on our streets this winter.
Together, we need to show the most vulnerable people in our community that they are loved, and not forgotten.

As a young, gay man, Andrew left his country town to come to Sydney, searching for a community that would accept and love him for who he was. Like all of us, he just wanted to feel like he belonged.
Sadly, Andrew quickly found himself on the streets - an outcast in a city that can be cold and unwelcoming.
"When you're on the streets, Wayside is a safe place to come and hang out and be okay for a while, and not be cold, and not be wet and get a change of socks, or have a shower, and something cheap to eat."
Now Andrew comes to Wayside regularly to see his mates and to take part in our programs. He's made many connections in the community, not only with visitors but also volunteers and staff.
Andrew now feels like he belongs here in the city, as much as anyone.

This winter, more people are coming to us feeling hungry, lonely and isolated.
In the last year*, our generous supporters have enabled us to provide...
30,108 clothes and bedding to keep a person clothed and warm.
11,339 hot showers and toiletries to people who are sleeping rough.
88,700 freshly-cooked meals to people who need it the most.
361 visitors a day on average, welcomed into the centre to support them the best we can.
